Volunteer
Happyville Farm is run by volunteers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Volunteers are always needed during the growing season, March - December. Our volunteer hours are Tuesday - Friday 8am to noon. Working at the farm can be physically demanding, but we are accommodating to everyone different abilities. We are also kid friendly when accompanied by an adult.
Some of the daily tasks are seeding, weed management, building beds, putting up trellis, transplanting summer crops, setting up hoops and row cover, clearing and bark mulching paths, setting up drip irrigation, working on fences and sheds, beekeeping, extending the xeriscape native plant border, and installing tomato and cucumber wire trellis system into the hoop house.
Why should you volunteer? Research shows that working with plants—and putting our hands in the dirt—provides outdoor physical activity, induces relaxation, and reduces stress, anxiety, blood pressure, and muscle tension. Other benefits include:
- Provides you with a sense of purpose
- Provides a sense of community
- Helps you meet new friends
- Learn something new
- Brings fun into your life!
